“Starting last summer, (now 15 books and
counting) I returned to my longtime interest
in the sketchbook, re-connecting my drawing
practice with the emerging artistic social
circles surrounding my Bushwick studio.
Sketching in Moleskines while having dinner
and wine perfectly extend the studio day into
often pleasantly diverting nights, capturing
the creative demimonde percolating among
the bars and cafes of New Brooklyn. Updating
the grand tradition of the artist journal and
the diarist’s entries, at times revealed in fresh
Instagram posts, my sketches track the vibrant
encounters of the NYC street, bringing new
impulse and vitality to the urban sketch."
