SAVEUR Cookout with Travel Texas

The SAVEUR Cookout comes to Wythe Hotel with some of the Lone Star State’s most exciting chefs.
In the summer of 2025, SAVEUR and Travel Texas brought their annual SAVEUR Cookout to Wythe Hotel, transforming the Main Hall and Garden Terrace into an immersive celebration of Texas cuisine. The event brought together 100+ SAVEUR readers to experience fresh takes on Texas barbecue from three of the Lone Star State’s buzziest pitmasters.
Chefs from Panther City BBQ, Khói Barbecue, and Eaker Barbecue gave guests a taste of Texas’s new-wave barbecue movement, blending tradition with the state’s rich cultural diversity. Rounding out the culinary offerings, Wythe’s culinary team provided a decadent “grazing table” featuring Texan pimento cheese alongside desserts like blackberry cream puffs and lemon-blueberry pavlovas.

Choosing the Perfect Venue
For SAVEUR’s events team, Wythe Hotel offered the best of all worlds: flexible indoor and outdoor space, a warm and timeless atmosphere, and a deep alignment with the event’s culinary focus. “The Wythe Hotel was a great option for our team, as it offered indoor/outdoor event capabilities in a beautiful space, with a strong sense of hospitality and an equally strong food program,” SAVEUR Special Projects Director Tavo Dam shared. “On top of that, the beautiful rooms for our visiting talent sealed the deal.”
Planning with Purpose
From hosting early walk-throughs to recommending local partners, Wythe’s team collaborated closely with SAVEUR to bring their vision to life. “The Wythe team was wonderful in supporting our event — from early planning to day-of execution,” Dam noted. “The staff was attentive and incredibly organized, ensuring a smooth and seamless evening.”

Execution and Atmosphere
The SAVEUR team creatively leveraged the Main Hall’s flexible layout to design a walk-around dinner with easy traffic flow for guests. On the day of the event, Wythe’s high-touch service style made execution effortless. “From unloading our equipment to coordinating a full brigade of staff during the event, we never felt like we had to chase anyone down — and it really showed in the success of our evening,” Dam recalled.
Results and Reflections
In recounting what made the event a success, Dam noted that “the space is warm, elegant, and timeless, while the staff is attentive and flexible when needed. Together, it made our custom event shine.”
“The Wythe was a joy to work with,” he concluded. “Whether hosting something turnkey or bespoke, the Wythe has the capabilities to bring your vision to life.”
