The Doux Launches Block Party

Known for its loud-and-proud packaging inspired by 90s hip-hop culture, The Doux is an award-winning hair care brand founded by Maya and Brian Smith. The Black-owned business has earned recognition from Vogue, Allure, and Ebony for its game-changing approach to textured and natural hair.

To launch its newest collection, Block Party, The Doux brought together friends, creators, and tastemakers from across New York City to celebrate at Bar Blondeau.

Planning with Purpose

According to CEO Maya Smith, Bar Blondeau was the obvious choice for their product launch thanks to its central location and exceptional skyline views. From the earliest site visits to months of planning meetings, Wythe’s Events Team partnered closely with The Doux to bring their vision to life. What began as a simple launch dinner soon expanded into a multi-part celebration featuring cocktails, a presentation, dinner, and dancing, all unfolding across several of the hotel’s distinctive event spaces.

Located on the sixth floor of Wythe Hotel, Bar Blondeau is a critically acclaimed rooftop destination known for its sweeping views of the Williamsburg waterfront and Manhattan skyline.

Execution and Atmosphere

After a presentation in the Screening Room, guests were invited to Bar Blondeau, where dinner was served against a panoramic view of the city. Manhattan's illuminated skyline provided a fitting complement to the playful energy of The Doux’s Block Party collection.

For dinner, Wythe’s culinary team prepared a menu of Le Crocodile favorites, including roast chicken and frites, Waldorf salad, passed desserts, and Whiskey Sour twists with fresh ginger syrup made from a bespoke recipe designed by the beverage team for the occasion.

Results and Reflections

Smith expressed that, “Wythe’s Events Team was outstanding from start to finish. The team’s responsiveness, flexibility, and attention to detail gave us confidence at every stage and helped ensure the event ran smoothly and efficiently.” She continued, “Guest feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees moved comfortably between the different spaces and consistently praised both the food and the atmosphere. The nighttime views of the Manhattan skyline became a memorable highlight, and the energy remained high throughout the evening … We would absolutely recommend Wythe to any organization considering hosting an event.”
