Tech Founders Celebrate Seed Funding in the Wythe Garden Terrace
In July, Tech:NYC invited tech startup founders who raised a seed round in the first half of the year to Wythe for an evening of celebratory drinks in the Garden Terrace. This marked the second event the nonprofit has hosted at the hotel.
Earlier this year, they brought women in tech together at Wythe for a happy hour. The event was such a success that they decided to return to close out the first half of the year with a special evening designed to connect and reinvigorate the tech community.
EXECUTION & ATMOSPHERE
When guests arrived, the awning of the Garden Terrace was pulled back, letting in the last bits of sunshine of the day fall over the venue while a breeze welcomed guests in.
Signature drinks—the Golden Hour (bourbon, lemon, elderflower, bergamot bitters) and the Veracruz (tequila, cucumber, lime, aloe, mint, and habanero)—were offered to guests as they arrived. Servers floated throughout the venue with passed canapés, including Mushroom Arancini, Falafel Bites, Coronation Chicken, and Beef Tartare.
While the energy was celebratory, the atmosphere remained relaxed, allowing guests to connect with ease and simply enjoy the summer evening. The Tech:NYC team even brought along their team dog, who watched over the evening from the comfort of her very own Wythe dog bed.
When asked to describe the gathering, Caroline McKechnie, Director of Platform at Tech:NYC, replied, “Elevated, exclusive, organized, delicious, chic!”
PLANNING WITH A PURPOSE
Having organized an event at Wythe before, the Tech:NYC team knew exactly what to expect. “We were extremely impressed by the venue, the team’s support, the food and drink, and of course, the beautiful views! For this event, the location was also perfect for our community of startup founders,” says Caroline.
Caroline also praised the Wythe Events team, calling them “an absolute delight to work with” and noting that they “went above and beyond to create the best possible attendee experience.”
